Congratulations to Dvorak Law Group law clerk Jack Kinney and his twin sister, Hannah-Kate on capturing first place in the University of Nebraska College of Law Transactional Law & Finance Competition!
Over the past month, Jack and Hannah-Kate competed in the University of Nebraska College of Law’s Transactional Law & Finance Competition. Teams were split into Buyers and Sellers and given a fact pattern along with confidential details about their client. They represented the Buyers.
Throughout the competition, they met with their client, drafted a letter of intent, redlined a seller’s draft, and participated in two negotiation rounds against different Seller teams. Competitors were judged on their drafting and redlining, negotiation skills, professionalism, and how well they prioritized their client’s goals.
Hannah-Kate and Jack took home first place for their Buyer-side LOI drafting and first place overall in the competition. As winners, they’ll go on to represent the University of Nebraska at the national competition this spring.
They credit much of their success to the guidance of Dvorak Law Group Business & Corporate attorneys, Marshall Dean and Luke Roudabush, who offered helpful advice on drafting, negotiating, and strategy. Jack also found that the summer experience at Dvorak Law Group played a big role—providing hands-on experience with transactional tools, exposure to real negotiation issues, and opportunities to draft LOIs and other documents while watching attorneys work directly with clients.
