Gretchen L. McGill

Biography

For 25 years, Gretchen has been trusted with identifying clients’ most complicated legal problems and finding the solution. Gretchen represents businesses and individuals on a multitude of legal matters, including breach of contract, real estate disputes, construction defects, business dissolutions, and estate disputes.

Gretchen also defends corporate clients in regulatory matters, including Department of Insurance investigations, Department of Labor audits and Internal Revenue Service issues. She has experience in defending claims brought under the False Claims Act (FCA). Gretchen also advises clients in a general counsel role, advising on risk management and compliance in their business operations.

Utilizing her diverse work background, Gretchen brings a unique perspective to her client matters, ensuring that the client’s desired outcome is at the forefront of any strategy. Gretchen began her career as a litigation attorney at a national law firm. From 2001 to 2007, Gretchen served as Deputy County Attorney, during which time she conducted hundreds of bench and jury trials.

  • General Motors v. Woodhouse Auto Family, Inc., et al., 656 F.Supp. 871 (Dist. Neb. 2023)
  • Obtained favorable verdict for construction client in five-day jury trial involving cancellation of contract
  • Attained settlement that avoided the sale of a family farm in complex partition action, involving seven properties in three different counties owned by eleven different individuals
  • Baumgart v. O’Sullivan (In re Estate of Karmazin), 908 N.W.2d 381 (2018)
  • HBI, L.L.C. v. Barnette, 941 N.W.2d 158 (2020)
  • Negotiated a $1,000,000+ settlement for client in shareholder dispute
  • Negotiated reduction of over $100,000 in excise tax liability for client
